A course designed to raise awareness and knowledge in understanding dogs that have been through an upheaval in their life. Suitable for anyone that is considering bringing a rescue dog into their home and their family.

Initially, when we rescue a dog, we can often feel out of our depth. Learning to understand how the dog may feel, reading his body language, and offering suitable dog focused communication, will make those crucial first weeks pass smoothly.
We look at how rescue dogs act, react and request along with how you can communicate in a special language – one that your new dog will appreciate and understand.

The information contained within this course will help to form a great bond with your dog in the early days and enhance your relationship with any dog, forever.

A brilliant introduction to the world of canine rescue, with loads of clearly written information on what challenges you might expect if you take on a rescue dog, and how to work with your dog to overcome those challenges.
Like all Canine Principles courses, it’s put together in a logical way so you’ll find yourself getting through it quickly and easily and will likely be surprised by the time you get to the assessment that you’ve actually taken in so much, as it doesn’t feel like reading a text book.
Whether you’re working in canine rescue, or have adopted a rescue dog, this course will help enormously, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve just completed the Rescue Dog Awareness certificate programme. The reading material is clearly written, logically structured and presented, and easy to follow. It gives a great basic grounding in the issues faced by rescue dogs, the behavioural aspects that may hinder an easy transition to a forever home, and lots of positive advice on training and building a bond with your dog.
Don’t worry if you are new to studying or haven’t written assignments for some time, as the course goes at your pace and the further reading and resources lists give you plenty opportunity to delve further into areas.
There are no tricks in the assessment questions, you are asked to demonstrate your knowledge and you will be surprised at how much you had forgotten you knew!
As a proud guardian of a rescue dog, I would highly recommend this course to anyone with (or considering) inviting a rescue dog to be part of their lives.
